This site covers the United States only. Every listing on the site has an address in a US state or the District of Columbia. The data comes from SAMHSA, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, which is a US federal agency.

SAMHSA runs FindTreatment.gov, a public locator of behavioral health treatment facilities. The locator has a public data export in JSON. This site uses that export, filtered to facilities whose survey record lists a special program or group for persons with eating disorders. The query asks for mental health facilities in the US with this flag.

On 2026-10-20, that query returned 2,412 facilities across the US and its territories. This site does not list all of them yet. A later import can bring in more of them.

What the record shows. The N-SUMHSS is SAMHSA's national survey of treatment facilities. A facility record gives the name, address, phone and website, and details such as service settings, age groups accepted, payment types accepted and licence or accreditation. The record does not name the specific eating disorders a facility treats. SAMHSA's data does not measure treatment results, so this site never ranks programs by claimed outcomes.

Age groups and payment. The record lists the age groups a facility accepts: children and adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors. It also lists payment types, such as Medicaid, Medicare, private health insurance, TRICARE and cash or self-payment. An empty field on a listing means unknown, not none.

The flag has limits. It means the facility told the survey it serves persons with eating disorders. It does not say that eating disorders are all the facility treats.

State licensing. A listing shows the licence or accreditation that the survey record states. It does not prove a current licence. State licensing lists are planned for this site but not yet added. To confirm a licence, check with the licensing board in the state where the facility is.

The facilities on this site span inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and outpatient settings. Some facilities offer one level of care; others offer several. The listing shows which settings the facility reported. SAMHSA's mental-health data does not report intensive outpatient separately. The site has a category page for each level of care.

The SAMHSA data is public domain. SAMHSA is a US federal agency, so the facility data is a US government work. The FindTreatment.gov project also dedicates its work worldwide under CC0 1.0. This site names SAMHSA as the source.

This guide is information about the data, not medical advice. Ask a doctor or other qualified clinician about treatment. For a medical or mental health emergency, call 911 in the US, or call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

Questions

Does this site list every US program that treats eating disorders?

No. It lists facilities that answered the N-SUMHSS survey and flagged a program or group for persons with eating disorders. A facility that treats eating disorders but did not flag this on the survey does not appear. This site does not yet list every facility the query returns.

Is the data up to date?

SAMHSA updates facility names, addresses, phones and services weekly. This site holds a copy from a set date. Each listing shows when its data was retrieved.
